Although their relationship is contentious at first, their mutual attraction isn't something that can be ignored, or denied. Disdain on one end, and unshakeable curiosity on the other, develop into an unconventional relationship where they get the benefits of companionship without the trouble of love.

One thinks they can keep it casual, the other is looking for an opportunity to take it further. Neither of them expects to “catch feelings”… let alone find themselves considering the “L” word.

Five stars are not enough

I just love Christina Jones' writing style; and quite frankly, I don't know how she does it. She consistently presents stories that are fresh and new. They aren't just for the twenty-somethings, but for the 30 and 40 year old, as well. I also love that she has characters with everyday jobs, families, and lives. When I read her books, I feel connected to the characters. I feel that not only am I observing the story, but I am participating in the action.

Now to the story. Let me preface this by saying that I SO enjoyed Rashad. And as I do after each of Christina's books, I named him as my new book boyfriend. He was a charming, witty, family oriented, hard working and so"fine" (as Bianca said), that he could make a woman admit that she was a liar. Yup. Rashad believes that the trouble with women is they can not handle a sexual relationship without "catching feelings." So when he meets Bianca, sparks fly, bells ring, birds sing, and the angels rejoice. Their attraction is immediate, but short-lived. Bianca has alot going on and isn't looking for anything or anyone, but peace. She's been through some things and has matured and is determined to stand on her own two feet and do things her way. Men need not apply.

Christina Jones takes a good looking guy who is used to playing the field and having things (and women) go his way and she makes him likeable. As a hero, Rashad is so charming and cute that the reader has no choice BUT to be an instant fan and supporter of his "mission." He and his "twin" grew up with loving and affectionate parents. (So much so, that you need to call before you just pop in to see them.) So Rashad has learned not to play games or use women, but to be honest and respectful of them.

From the beginning of the story to the end, this was an awesome romance! Christina continues to intertwine new and old characters and settings, that make her stories that more appealing; not that it is needed. The conversations were terrific and the connections were evident. The sex scenes were steamy and hot, but not without affection and romance. As one reviewer said, this story was refreshing. It dealt with today's topics and issues. I admit that I re-read some of the sweet, loving parts involving "Shad" and "B" because they were just so sweet and cute! The story flowed perfectly and the characters warmed my heart. Great job!

Such a refreshing read...

It's ok to ..not believe in love right? Bianca would like to think so. A chic blogger with an eye for fashion, she gets an opportunity of a life time. She just didn't know she would be getting a pain in the a** as well. Rashad is into proving his theory on women right but when trouble comes knocking at his door..and heart, he finds himself caught up in the worst of ways.

My last thought on this book as I was finishing up was 'what a refreshing read'. This book really helped me get my reading mojo back (lol). One of the things I love the most is the characters and how they were able to stand apart from previous ones in other books by Jones. Though young, Bianca and Rashad had a lot of depth. I enjoyed their uniqueness and relatablity. Jones has a way of making you feel like these characters are your friends. The dynamics of their interactions was on point and the chemistry was surely felt. Ohhh I loved the growth in Rashad since I last read about him in The Trouble With Love. He certainly was not playing around when it came to handling Bianca and her sass! [Mmmmm (lips).. lol you will get it once you read it.]

I was so upset by something that happened in the book ..I was like "gad how do you live that down!?" The conflict was very realistic and had me in my feelings but I loved the way it was resolved. The conclusion was very plausible especially considering Bianca's past issues and left me quite satisfied. I look forward to reading an update on these characters!!

The Trouble With Us is yet another masterful job of writing by Christina. In this story we meet Bianca Bailey, a cute and sassy blogger and handsome photographer/entrepreneur Rashad.. The beginning of the story had me intrigued from the first few lines.. Bianca had a heartbroken-I-am- not-gonna-take-any-mess-off-men-anymore-attitude when Rashad approached her at the bar when they first met.. I was hooked and ready to see where the story took us. As luck would have it, Bianca was chose to be a part of the Sugar & Spice team as a blogger, and you guessed it- Rashad was the photographer for Sugar & Spice. At first, Bianca was so mean to Rashad that I was chilled. Then over time, he worn down the humongous wall she had built around her heart. It was nice to see it melt into ashes, as his passion burned into her soul.. The love scenes as scorching as always, that goes without saying. The other characters had flair to this story. Raisa, Cameron and even stuck-up Keiran ( I cannot stand that fella). It amazes me that Christina always takes us on an a wonderful adventure that FEELS like something REAL.. Bravo my friend.. Bravo!

Hit and miss but worth the time

I am not a poetry officianado, but I have been trying to read more of it lately.

Overall I enjoyed this book. There were some poems I didn't really get/like. Several poems that reminded me of Ed Sherman. A few poems that I wished were longer. A lot of poems that I thought were good but will never dwell on. And a handful that I really loved and want to hang in my memory for a while.

There wasn't much originality here, in my opinion. I didn't have to trudge through this to finish it, but I still felt like nearly everything in this book has already been said a million times, and better, by somebody else.

Stevens holds a Master s Degree in Communications and Writing from Antioch University in London, England and has taught at UCLA, USC, and Loyola Marymount University, among others. She is an active member of Women in Film.

Jo Schaffer is an author, speaker, and blogger who studied Arts and British literature in London, England. She is a founding member of Writers Cubed, a non-profit organization formed to promote literacy, and co-creator of Teen Author Boot Camp (TABC), the largest teen author conference in the United States. Internationally recognized authors who have presented at TABC include James Dashner (The Maze Runner) and Ally Condie (Matched). Jo is also involved in independent film.

Needs to be read by parents and teenagers.

After reading this book I was left asking a few questions. Was this book hopeful or a look into the darker aspects of the dynamics between parents and their children? Did the characters really need to suffer the way they did and how much of it was brought upon themselves? It was tough for me to find which side I was really rooting for. Yes, I was against the inhumane treatment of the pivotal characters but I also realized that this is a book that should be read by both the parents and their children. It shows both sides of the way people see the same situation. The reason I removed 1 star is for the language. Just because the book is based on real events and shows the gritty edge of asylums, I still feel if this book is geared toward Young Adults, they don't need to be handed adult language in what they read. Too much is already thrown in their face everyday.

A fantastic debut!!

'Against Her Will' by Jo Schaffer, is a compelling story and an amazing journey through the eyes of teens held in a psych ward; most of them against their will. This phenomenal debut by Jo Schaffer is an adventure of heart ache, death, tribulations, romance, break-ups and addiction. This relatable book is well worth your time. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Gritty and well written

A gritty book about the side of being a teenager that is usually hidden. The prose and descriptions are amazing, and the characters distinctive. It was a hard read because the content isn't happy clouds and rainbows. However, it stuck with me long after I was finished. The kind of book you just want to talk about. Great debut novel.
