Woof & Words: A Master Muse on Dog's, Impermance, Love, and Loss

My wife lovvvvves dogs--and not just our dog (though he gets special royalty status)--AND Mary Oliver. So when I bumped into this book, I knew I had to get it for her right away. And she's delighted with the book. Even I (also a lover of dogs--though less appreciative of poetry) was charmed--and more important--touched by MO's words and the poems in this slim volume (which include both previously published and new works).

Mary Oliver is actually one of the few poets who does move me--and obviously I'm not alone. Probably some experts and academics will scoff, but to me she has both a delicacy and down-to-earth quality that offer grace so even someone like myself, who might be a bit tone deaf to the mystery and romance of more obscure works, really sees/listens (

Steven Puttemans Steven Puttemans is a PhD research candidate at the KU Leuven, Department of Industrial Engineering Sciences. He obtained a master of science degree in Electronics-ICT and further expanded his interest in computer vision by obtaining a master of science in artificial intelligence. Quan Hua Quan Hua is a software engineer at Autonomous, a start-up company in robotics, where he focuses on developing computer vision and machine learning applications for personal robots. As the owner of Quan404.com, he also blogs about various computer vision techniques to share his experience with the community.

Utkarsh Sinha Utkarsh Sinha lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he is pursuing a master's in computer vision at Carnegie Mellon University. He intends to learn the state of the art of computer vision at the university and work on real-life industrial scale computer vision challenges. Before joining CMU, he worked as a Technical Director at Dream works Animation on movies such as Home, How to Train your Dragon 2, and Madagascar 3. A nice to have book in your OpenCV books collection

The book is a very good recipe for those who have prior knowledge of opencv, it covers different subjects related to image processing and computer vision, while at the same time presents complete projects about different computer vision concepts. It provides an easy to follow flow over the text with a step by step explanation. It is not focused only to c++ and opencv development but includes other techniques/methods and technologies as well, e.g. python, android development, etc... Chapter 5 is excellent since it provides really important information and guidance related to machine learning and object detection, something quite interesting to many users, by giving you information related on how to modify settings and parameters for the best outcome. It is a nice to have book in your collection and I would definitely suggest to purchase it without second thoughts.

Lots of content but really messy

It's a good book that covers a lot of advanced OpenCV concepts, and the code is available online. That being said, the book is really messy. The different projects are all over the place in terms of programming languages, hardware setups, and difficulty level. The writing style is also noticeably different from chapter to chapter. Some chapters focus extensively on theory, and show code only briefly towards the end. Some concepts are introduced several times, such as the cascade classifier. Not the OpenCV masterpiece that others proclaimed it to be.

Great OpenCV Insights

As a relative newbie to OpenCV, I've read a number of books, tutorials and documentation on OpenCV recently and this is definitely at or near the top of the list for me. I was specifically looking for details on OpenCV training for object detection and Chapter 5 provides everything I was looking for and more. It gets into the specifics on parameter settings, how training works in-depth as well as how to choose appropriate positive and negative training images. The book also had good info relating to camera system basics and automating camera control that that I'll definitely use in my upcoming projects.

Overall, I felt this was well worth the money.

The beautiful descriptions realize a character that is emasculated and humiliated through his own choosing right until the very end. It makes for some very hot reading. When the scammer's sugar-daddy finds out that his girlfriend (then fiance') is a man, the events that follow are hands-down the best material I've ever read dealing with forced-feminisation, with the victim then secretly becoming the scammer, and getting the shemale character to do all sorts of horrible things (I'll give you a hint: it involves surgery :) All in all, a very well written story. The story kept me entertained all week, which is not something I can say for the other stories in this genre. The fact that there are so many sections devoted to the male-version of the character at the beginning might be a turn off for some, but I personally think that the transformation is much hotter when you know the character a bit better. Great Sex, Great Characters

Excellent novella. If you are into feminization tales, this is a great buy. True, there are a lot of highly sexual scenes (and even some sex!), but what really got me was the character dynamics. Daniel Minchin DESPISES gay people, transgender women, and frankly women in general, and so to watch him force his own transformation is excellent. Perhaps my favorite thing is that he does not become "a woman in heart and soul" at the end, which a lot of these sorts of stories do and which always seemed unrealistic to me. Also, the deuteragonist/victim Ben Davis was much more interesting than I expected - while he does start out as the typical "lonely sad rich guy is seduced by gold digger" character he turns out to be made of a lot more *cough* sterner stuff *cough cough* than you might think.

I suppose the greatest endorsement I can give the book is that this is the first review I have ever written for ANY book. Take that as you will.
